Reflection. . .

There were a few things I considered when crafting my portfolio. For one thing, I wanted to make it simple in order to not overwhelm anyone who views it. I chose pink because it is my favorite color, but I made sure to pick a shade that is calming and soft on the eyes. When I first started this project, I had an ombre background with pink and orange. After some thought, I decided that I wanted to take a simpler approach because I think that aesthetic is more pleasing. I think choosing a solid color and simple fonts makes the portfolio straight to the point and easy to navigate. It was important to me to make this portfolio easy to navigate because if it was too overly complicated, it might lead someone to exit out of my site and/or be unable to find important information. Secondly, I chose to write a cover letter rather than a personal statement because I thought it would be easier to draft and approach. A personal statement takes a lot of time to craft what you are trying to say, and since I am still in undergrad and am looking for work/internship experience, a cover letter is a great way to practice. This project challenged me because I do not consider myself to be a creative person, so I had to dedicate more time than I thought. Taking ENC 3416 has made me realize my creative potential. It has introduced me to new fields, like marketing and graphic design, and I did not know that these areas would interest me as much as they do. In this ePortfolio, I included a considerable amount of information about myself, including my resume, an "About Me" section, my contact information, and this reflection. I hope that this will be able to provide employers with information about me that is sufficient and intriguing. My intentions for this portfolio are to showcase myself and my work, which will hopefully reach the audience that I intend it to. Since most things are digital, I think having an ePortfolio is extremely useful and accessible. I wrote my cover letter to a law firm because I am a pre-law student who hopes to attend law school and become an attorney. While I am not fully dedicated to a certain field, I chose the Innocence Project because I am interested in this area. I have followed the Innocence Project for a few years now, and this would be an opportunity that I would love to have. I kept my cover letter short and simple, and I followed a template I found online in order to write a proper letter. Overall, I dedicated a lot of time and put a lot of effort into this ePortfolio project and I enjoyed creating it. This ePortfolio will definitely be useful for me in the future as I create more projects to showcase and apply for more jobs and internships. I hope other people enjoy this portfolio, too!
